CITY OF CAPE TOWN OUTCOMES-BASED WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The City of Cape Town contracted Lulaway to implement a city-wide outcomes-based workforce development
programme aimed at reducing the number of discouraged work-seekers by identifying, preparing and placing residents in education, training and ultimately work opportunities and thus increase their skills in line with current and future hiring needs.

The implemented programme has made significant inroads into identifying and overcoming the spatial and support
service accessibility faced by the unemployed residents, particularly in areas like Atlantis, Phillipi, Khayelitsha and the like where these gaps are felt more acutely.

PROJECT OUTCOMES:

  • 21 405 job seekers profiles and assessed
  • 9271 job seekers completed work-readiness training
  • 3165 job seekers placed within employment and training
