Our Story

Since 2008, Lulaway has evolved from a job centre and work placement company to becoming an experienced and trusted project management company within the youth employment space in South Africa, where youth unemployment still hovers around 50%. Expanding our services to meet the growing needs of job seekers, we now deliver end-to-end project management with over 50 large-scale projects managed across seven specialized spheres. By facilitating Public Private Partnerships (PPP), leveraging advanced technology, streamlined recruitment, and transparent reporting, Lulaway continues to drive social change—one job at a time.

Our Mission

Lulaway sets out to transform youth unemployment in South Africa by acting as a bridge connecting job seekers, employers, and the public sector in meaningful and impactful ways. Milestones of Impact and Growth: Timeline

Since 2008, Lulaway has been on a journey of empowering youth and creating opportunities, bridging the gap between job seekers and employers to drive meaningful change

2008
Lulaway Established

Lulaway was initially founded as a network of internet cafe`s, aiming to assist job seekers in finding relevant online channels to apply for job opportunities.

2011
Internet cafes become Job centres

Lulaway partners with the Gauteng DSD to open 20 Job centres throughout the province. These Job centres replaced the internet cafe`s, becoming dedicated, central hubs where job seekers can come to apply for a variety of entry-level jobs.

2012
The Lulaway Online Job board is launched with Dis-chem

Lulaway launches own custom online Job board with Dis-chem pharmacies. Job seekers can now come into any Lulaway Job centre to apply for Dis-chem entry-level positions. Dis-chem exclusively recruit cashiers, merchandisers and admin staff via the Lulaway portal.

2013
McDonald's partnership

Lulaway partners with McDonald's for the recruitment of McDonald's entry-level cashiers, waiters/resses, kitchen and front-line staff. McDonald's uses the Lulaway portal for selection of staff.

2016
First PPP Project

Facilitated the training and placement of 200 South African youth at Bidvest Proea Coin group, as Security officers, supported by the Ekurhuleni Municipality

2017
ABSA Corporate CSI project

ABSA Corporate Citizenship Work-readiness and Youth placement project implemented. 12 000 South African job seekers trained and 6000 placed into private sector jobs.

2018
City of CT Workforce development programme

Large scale youth employment programme including set up of 30 Job Centres, Creation of digital profiles for 10 000 young job seekers of which we trained 6000 and placed 4000 into jobs.

2021
Large-scale placements

Launch of mass employment program with the UIF, placing 7810 young South Africans into private sector jobs.
