Harmony & Lulalab Foundation Launch Last Mile Delivery Pilot Programme

On 26 June 2026, Lulalab, an innovation initiative of Lulaway, proudly partnered with Harmony to launch the Harmony & Lulalab Foundation Last Mile Delivery Pilot Programme at Harmony's Doornkop Operation. The launch marked the beginning of a partnership focused on one shared goal: creating sustainable pathways to employment for young South Africans.

South Africa's unemployment challenge calls for innovative, practical solutions that equip young people with skills that are directly linked to real economic opportunities. Through this pilot programme, 100 young people from Harmony host communities will receive the training, support, and resources needed to participate in the country's growing last-mile delivery economy.

More than a training initiative, the programme is designed to prepare participants for long-term success. They will benefit from:

• SETA-accredited New Venture Creation (NVC) entrepreneurship training
• Motorbike rider training and licensing support
• Work-readiness development
• Ongoing mentorship throughout the programme
• Access to employment opportunities with leading delivery platforms, including Mr D, OneCart, Woolies Dash, and Uber Eats

By combining practical skills development with industry partnerships, the programme creates a clear pathway from training to employment, helping participants build sustainable livelihoods while contributing to South Africa's expanding digital economy.

The launch also highlighted the importance of collaboration in tackling youth unemployment. When organisations come together with a shared purpose, they can create opportunities that extend far beyond a single programme, delivering lasting impact for individuals, families, and communities.

This commitment was further shared with a wider audience through a feature on Soweto TV, where representatives from Harmony and Lulalab discussed the vision behind the initiative and the difference it aims to make in the lives of young people. The feature reinforces that this programme is about much more than providing motorbikes, it is about equipping young people with accredited training, mentorship, confidence, and access to meaningful work.
